Satellite Installation

Tips on how to perform satellite installation easily

If you enjoy undertaking DIY projects, satellite installation offers you a great opportunity for this. You will not only learn something new, but you will also save some money and time instead of hiring a technician. Just like many DIY projects, satellite installation requires some knowledge in making DStv connections. It is simple to learn, and the user manual in your package will help you with this.

What do you need for a DStv satellite installation?

You will need to have the basic tools needed to do any DIY task, such as hammers, screwdrivers, and an electrician’s tape. You will also need a cement drill and the right connecting cables. Some of these essential items will be in your package when you make a purchase. With all these, you can begin the satellite installation process.

How to mount the DStv satellite dish

When you purchase a DStv satellite, your package will come with a mast and several steel cement screws. These will hold the dish in place and prevent it from getting realigned by bad weather or heavy winds. You will first have to find a place to install the mast before proceeding with satellite installation.

Using your cement drill, create four holes for your screws and set up the mast. Ensure the screws are tightened and that it remains firmly in place. Once done, you can now attach the satellite dish. You should ensure the center of the dish is placed in the right spot and tightened with all the screws.

When you complete this process, you can now proceed to cable connections. Run your RG 6 cable from the dish to the decoder. Its ends have unique ports that make it easy to identify where you should insert them. Connect the decoder to your tv and run the setup to ensure it is getting a strong signal.

Realigning the dish and checking for stability

The final step in the satellite installation process is realigning, and it is only done when there is a signal problem with your decoder. Ensure your dish is well elevated and is facing the direction with the highest signal strength. Make adjustments until your decoder registers a good signal strength.

You can now check whether the dish is attached firmly to prevent tampering. This is how to undertake the satellite installation process successfully.
